Zootherapy is a false friend, which actually refers to the "healing of human ailments by using therapeutics based on medicines obtained from animals, or ultimately derived from them" (Alves & Rosa, 2005, p. 5). Zoothérapie instead refers to the broader field of animal-assisted interventions, which includes AAT, AAA and other approaches.
